Mentoring

At WiMSA, we believe that mentorship is a continuous journey—one that should be championed every day of the year, far beyond the annual celebration of International Mentoring Day.

WiMSA Director and former Chairperson, Raksha Naidoo, captures the essence of this commitment, noting: "I am who I am, and where I am, thanks to incredible mentors. I believe passionately in paying that forward to others." At its heart, mentorship is about service and the intentional development of the next generation of leaders to ensure a resilient, successful, and sustainable mining industry.

To bring this vision to life, WiMSA will host a series of online and in-person events throughout the year designed to facilitate meaningful connections and professional growth. Mentoring will also remain a central pillar of the Annual WiMSA Symposium, taking place on 21 and 22 July 2026.

As we embrace our 2026 theme, “Break the Ground. Own the Shift,” we recognise that mentorship is the ultimate tool for transformation. By sharing knowledge and support, we empower one another to challenge the status quo and take full ownership of the evolving mining landscape.
